The Wood:

A moderately hard, straight-grained, even-textured wood with great strength properties. Works well with hand and machine tools. Density 670kg/m3.

The Tree:

 Similar to white Beech. Good stem formation, tall and straight. Slow growth, can take up to 60 years to reach required height.

Colour:

 pink due to the steaming process. The intensity of the colour is proportionate to the number of hours exposed to steaming.

Typical uses:

 Furniture, chairs, carving, toys, plywood.
