Jatoba

The Wood:

The wood is harder than maple, is hard on tools but worth the effort due to the colour. It often looks similar to Teak. Has a bold grain and an occasional small pin knot. Darkens with age. Density 860kg/m3.

The Tree:

 Grows up to 98 feet (30m) in height. It produces bright green leaves in matched pairs, and white fragrant flowers that are pollinated by bats. The tree has brown, oblong pod-like fruit with a large seed inside. The fruit is considered edible although hardly tasty.

Colour:

 Ranges from medium brown to an amazing rich orange and red colour. Sometimes with fire and black lines running through the wood.
