Poplar

The Wood:

Finely textured, soft, and lightweight. Easy to work with and takes paint exceptionally well. Frequently finished to look like other woods. Density 450kg/m3.

Poplar Plantation, Renewable resource, trees grown for the extraction of wood, paper and energy.

The Tree:

 A tall, strately tree. May reach a height of 150 feet (45.7m) with a trunk up to 1m and free of branches for up to 90 feet (27.5m).

Colour:

 Greyish white sapwood with a greenish heartwood.

Typical uses:

 Furniture, joinery, kitchens.
