Timbers – Ash

The Wood:

Similar to Red Oak in appearance and working properties. Excellent shock resistance. Straight grained with moderately course texture. Glues, stains, and finishes well. Density 600kg/m3.

The Tree:

 Reaches heights of 70 – 80 feet (21 – 24m) with a trunk diameter of 24 – 36 inches (610 – 914mm). Boles are often straight and clear of branches for 30-50 feet (9-15m).

Colour:

 Light Cream to light brown.

Typical uses:

 Handles, furniture, cabinets, interior joinery, sports equipment, baseball bats.
